Have you ever had a moment when your brain went on vacation and didn't tell you?  Dumb question right.

Yeah, so this morning I was wandering around the house and in no particular hurry.  I kissed Tracie good-bye and headed to church. It was 7:35 AM and in my head I was thinking, "Leaving this early will be good; I can get a few things done before worship." It was 7:45 when I arrived. Walking upstairs and seeing so many peopl...

I'm a confident person....most days. I believe in hard work, dedication, and pride in producing a decent result.  My achilles heel is over-confidence that creeps into my mind and says, "Randy, you are incredibly awesome!  Puff your chest out further." When I get self-centered, It's possible that God shakes a divine head and says, "Prideful Randy, watch this."

I suppose it occurred in the early 90s. I was a cer...

Ever forget a key ingredient when baking? Have you ever put a piece a machinery back together and had pieces left over? Cake without sugar tastes bleah and a machine that produces a screeching sound is one to avoid.

My faith has to be formed by key ingredients too and the most important one is the Holy Bible. The scriptures inform me of God's nature and I better understand God through these ancient but relevant texts. John...

So, last week I came off 322/522 and approached South Walnut. I looked and saw the light just turned yellow, so I did what I always do; I sped up. Catching a blur out of my periphery I relaxed my foot on the throttle. Along came a mini van through the intersection as I glanced at my light still showing yellow...and I jabbed the brakes to avoid getting t-boned.

A bit shaken, I proceeded through the l...

It may seem trivial to some, but when I see garbage floating down a sidewalk or street I feel a need to gather it and dispose of it.  Some would say, "There are medications for that Randy." I like to think of ownership over consumerism. I have been placed here to reflect a creative, loving, and just God.

God cares for His creation and He has (en)trusted me to care for my part of the world.

"Dream Big!" I said....

You may say, "Why bother? Nothing ever seems to go my way."

Have you noticed great negativity in our world lately? Yes, I have too. Cynicism may be at an all time high. I hear folks share stories about all the things we have lost in our town. Grieving losts things is okay and much needed but dwelling in the past is foolhardy.  I hear folks speak about the past as though it were comparable to Christ's second coming. (Th...

Let me tell you a story about dreaming and trusting. Our third child, Kenny, had a desire to become an auto technician. He pursued dual enrollment at Dallastown high school and entered the HACC auto tech program his senior year.  Kenny was not a verbal person by any means. Upon graduating from Dallastown and HACC in 2013. Kenny chose to go to Nascar Technical Institute in Moorseville North Carolina. Along with his decision came good hearted...

I hope you noticed the warm smiling people who welcomed you to worship this morning. Su Salvatore and Sandy Matthews are working hard to build a team of people ready to open doors, shake hands, and offer greetings at every door of our sanctuary. Our friendly church is living into a challenge to connect with one another on something deeper than the normal, "How about that weather today?" level of conversation.  Our growing relationships inside the...

Often, when generosity is discussed, the topic usually revolves around money. However, generosity does not have to be limited to $$$$$.

Yesterday, I left the house around 6 AM for a run.  As I traversed the streets of our town, I noticed a few business professionals heading to work. There were several seniors walking their pets in the cool morning air. A disabled street cleaning machine sat on Main St. in need of repair. A...
