When it's feels like 95 degrees...

Extreme heat and I do NOT get along. Our family went to Trough Creek State Park yesterday and hiked the trails, eventually we climbed to see the "Balanced Rock" then returned down the mountain and headed for our vehicle. We were tired, a bit overheated, and....well quite sweaty! On the way to the van, we stopped at the famous "Ice Mine" in the park.

The mine was created as a result of a natural phenomenum that occurs when winter air remains trapped between rock strata and then during the hot summer months pushes its way down through the rock and accumulates in the "Ice Mine". What a refreshing place to go after a long hike. We were all immediately refreshed and energized.

In this morning's Bible passage, I read, "Words spoken at the right time are like gold apples in a silver setting. Wise correction to an ear that listens is like a gold earring or jewerly of fine gold." (Proverbs 25:11-12, CEB) There is refreshment for us in receiving "words spoken at the right time" and "wise correction".

Much like the 55-60 degree temps in the Ice Mine made the 85 degree day less oppressive, God's word is a refreshing to my soul. How does God refresh your spirit? How are you refreshing the spirit of a family member, neighbor, co-worker, or fellow classmate? I would love to hear your responses to these questions. As you ponder this, enjoy the bubbling stream,
