Water water everywhere...

You're going to feel a pinch. In a few hours, I will hear those words from the phlybotemist at our blood drive. In the meantime, I am drinking copious amounts of water and juice in preparation for my attempt to donate. If successful, my blood drive worker will encourage me to take it easy the rest of the day and force extra fluids into my body. Much research reveals our bodies are between 65 and 70% water...or blood. Yet, I personally know many folks who don't drink enough water. Substituting sports drinks, coffee, alcohol, and other liquids in place of water don't help the body function well. Some of my friends have even said they don't like the taste of water....

13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug

their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (Jeremiah 2:13-14, NIV)

Drinking 50-60 ounces of water daily helps our body flush away toxins and improves our organ function. Yes, I know it means more trips to the bathroom as well! Walking to restrooms is exercise for us and stimulates our heart rate. Why am I harping on water consumption? I guess I have come to understand the importance of healthy bodies that can glorify God with more energy and stamina. If we are suffering physical illness, then our emotional and spiritual life begins to erode and become arid.

Jesus understands us and knows we need Him. He knew the women at the well in John 4 and knew her life was in shambles. She came seeking well water and he was offering 'living water'. He was encouraging her to seek Him and experience a life renewal. Her toxic life would be flushed away and her relationships with others would become genuine.

How about you friend, do you drink enough water to keep your body functioning well? Do you seek Christ and His living water that can bring renewal to your soul? Oops, gotta go to the restroom!! Peace.
