Welcome! Come on in!

It is that time of year when nearly every insect and critter is thinking about finding a winter home. Those on the hill I live on seem to be choosing our home....in droves! This (millipede?) was motoring across the kitchen floor this morning. It is just one of many we will see today and every day till snow flies. Not looking forward to when all the 'field mice' change their names to 'The pastor's house mice'.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the

LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1-2, NIV)

The basic instinct for security and survival in this creature is no different than our own internal nature of connection to our creator. I personally need to sense and experience God's nearness. This intrinsic strand of spiritual DNA may well be part of the 'image of God' talked of in Genesis. Our completeness and godliness are moving to fulfillment when we are close to or getting closer to God. The restoration of the godly image within us is completed by Christ's death and resurrection. Our journey to fully internalize that truth is often clouded with pain and doubt. Foolish people give up on God when tough times come. Wise people continue the journey and trust that God knows the beginning and the end and all points in between. We never stop searching for the safe place in which to find rest.

I don't know where this day will take you but I am confident your journey will be overseen by God's watchful eye and you will sense an internal desire to be close to the One who created you, knows you, and has offered salvation through Jesus for you.
