Trust During the Unexpected.

I have never flown an aircraft. Passenger? Yes! Pilot? No! I have watched a few TV shows and understand instrument flying is a bit easier than flying without instruments.... Okay, the show was "Walker Texas Ranger"! Actually, I have flown an airplane, (an RC plane) but that's a story for another day....

Trusting the equipment on the dashboard to instruct pilots seems to be counterintuitive to what one can see with their eyes. That gut feeling we all claim to have can be helpful or it can run us off course. This image taken from Instagram illustrates the unexpected events that one cannot be fully prepared to handle.

Who can plan for events like this picture? Whether pilot error was involved or a freak wind burst blew the plane askew matters not. What do we do when stuff goes awry? Trust. That's really all we can do. Trust in God. I'm guessing the pilots were able to use their God given ability to right this ship and land safely.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways

acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)

The Lord creates, redeems, loves, and provides for us. When we suffer hurts and meet disappointment in this broken world, God is still our hope and so we trust.

Trust allows our feeble faith to know God's provision even when scarcity abounds. Trust helps us see hope in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty. Trust keeps us connected to the Lord when competing voices shout for us to reject God's protection. Trust, is the main thread winding through our faith. We believe God can do and will do for us things that benefit us. We believe God will work in the worst of our situations to bring about something good. Without trust, our faith falters; without trust in the Lord, we rest on our own laurels and those efforts will always fall short.

Today, let's trust in the Lord with all our heart and watch what God does in response to our faithfulness.
