Point to the Sky!

We see athletes do it all the time. After hitting a home run, scoring a goal, catching a touchdown, or beating an opponent through checkmate, the victor will point to the sky and sometimes cross themselves. It is an acknowledgment of Almighty God. What would it look like for the defeated ones to do the same thing? I remember a line from the movie "Facing the Giants" that went something like, "We'll praise Him when we win; we'll praise Him when we lose." It is easy to acknowledge God when things are going well and more difficult when they aren't.

In the course of a day, how often do we acknowledge the Lord? If we do, it's likely after a win for us or something positive occurring. Perhaps a better response from us would be an acknowledgment of God in good and bad times. God is in both. God uses both for our spiritual maturing and His glory. Our best response is always to praise the Lord.

"To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault

and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus

Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." (Jude 1:24-25, NIV)

Today, let's commit to make our lives a constant doxology to the one who has created us, who loves us, and has redeemed us. Let our lives be a living sacrifice for Christ and let's present a witness that draws people near to our God. Point to the sky and shout a "Praise the Lord!"
