How is this possible?

It isn't that I am drawn to creepy things. I am intrigued by nature which in some cases turns out to be a little creepy. What? If it crawls, creeps, slithers, or any other sort of conveyance, then I'm curious. It amazes me how creation seems to be so complex and yet so simplistically beautiful. Take the ordinary drab looking spider egg sac. These oddly shaped containers are stuffed full of potential life and when the sac bursts, I marvel. The photo below was taken on our vacation trip. What you are looking at is a spider sac burst and nearly a hundred baby spiders experiencing life on this planet.

My curiosity lies in this. How do all those baby spiders fit and thrive in such a tiny space. Clearly the hatched babies don't appear as though they would all fit into the sac. I'm no expert in arachnids so anything I say would be pure conjecture on my part. It's times like these, I wish my high school science teacher were here. Mr Gilham was a walking talking full volume of the latest encyclopedia. For the younger readers today just think of this guy as "Google". He was such a humble and intelligent man. If you had a question, Bud had an answer. I'm not sure if Mr. Gilham was a believer in Christ Jesus (it's likely), but I think he would acknowledge the beauty of creatures was something to treasure.

"And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that

move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild

animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move

along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:24-25, NIV)

So, it's okay if you don't like creepy crawly things. I can see your squeamishness and understand. Can we at least agree that God has some divine reason for forming things like snakes, spiders, and such? Can we also agree that the prospect of stuffing nearly a hundred tiny creatures into a small silk water proof container is beyond our comprehension? The pursuit of unique phenomena is actually an exercise in knowing God a little bit more. Everything I look at leads me toward a deeper theology. I see a spider spinning a web, I think of God. I see a hummingbird, I see God.

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who

suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because

God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his

eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been

made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:18-20, NIV)

What things near you right now might cause you to think more deeply about God? Are there flowers in the garden, maybe a colony of pesky ants near your house, or the huge oak tree full of acorns dropping thousands of leaves? Don't dismiss things around you as creepy or inconvenient. They are reminders of God's creative nature. Awesome!
