Planning for future blessings!

March 16, 2016

Write it down. I bought my wife flowers. Granted the flowers need to be planted, but flowers are here none the less. Buying cut flowers has always been a thing I avoid. In a short period of time, the flowers fade, wilt, and need to be disposed of.  The temporary doesn't hold the same values as permanance.

Here is the deal, if you buy a plant (perennial) and stick it in the ground, fertilize, and prune as needed, the plant will produce blessings for a long period of time.  While cut flowers offer blessings for a short time, plants firmly rooted will produce indefinitely. Don't get me wrong, I do harvest flowers off our plants, but the plant remains the source of future blessings.

How are you doing with the life you've been given? Is your life cut off from the source of life? Is God feeling distant? Do you feel faded, wilting and useless? Could it be you are cut away from the life source? It is admirable to offer cuttings (time, money, possessions, help) from your life to bless another, but without a gounding in God your supply of blessings will run dry.

"Blessed is the man (and woman) who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of

sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his/her delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he/she

meditates day and night. He/she is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in

season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he/she does prospers.

        (Psalms 1_1-3, NIV) [feminine added]

Today, as we continue through Lent, stop and reconnect with the Lord. Soak in some scripture and chew on these words all day long. Seek a deep rooted relationship with the one who knows you and seeks communion with you. Sink your heart and mind deeply into the only true source of life and see if your temporary blessings don't produce more permanent richer fruit in the future.
