Is life a blur?

April 8, 2016

NOT SURE WHERE WE'RE HEADED, BUT WE'RE MAKING GOOD TIME!!!!!!

Oops, sorry for yelling at you there. When things happen quickly, I tend to raise my voice.  If it feels like you are living life 150 miles an hour, you probably are. STOP! Or at the very least, slow down.

        "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads

        me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s

        sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

        your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

        You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my

        life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." (Psalm 23, NIV)

Our life and value as a child of God is not determined by how busy we are or how quickly we get things done. I know this to be true, since I suffer from the malady of always needing to be doing something.

Much like the picture here, life loses clarity when we are running full speed and never realize people near us and beauty in each of them.  We miss a smile or a tear and personal connections suffer. We are always looking toward the next big thing to accomplish.

    We can try to slow down and enjoy more details of life and those around us. I'm sure it will take more than our own will for this to occur. The text from Psalm 23 seems to suggest a releasing of control on our part. To allow God to "makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. implies actions that God alone performs (if we'll allow God to work).

    Consider slowing down a bit; consider allowing God control of your daily minutes, and consider resting in God's provision which will never leave you hungry, thirsty, restless, or unfulfilled.
